This is a great place for kids. The ice cream is the best I've ever had. From watching the cheese making to sampling to eating ice cream, well worth the time. We have visited Tillamook Cheese Factory many times in my 20+ years of living in Oregon. After lunch, you have to stop at the ice cream counter and get a couple scoops of Tillamook ice cream. You may have a long line for the icecream or cafe during the summer season but they do a pretty good job of upping their staff during this time and get through the orders pretty well. Tillamook Cheese Factory is what it is. This is the first time we have had ice cream here and it is really mediocre given the amount of space and effort they obviously put into their ice cream sales. It also came as a surprise to find that a 5 pound block of white extra sharp cheddar which cost us $32.99 is available at Costco in Washington for $27.95. Always a good lunch stop.

It was a super busy Sunday and the line up for ice cream was way too long, so we just bought some cheese for a picnic and moved on*** Head on down the road to Debbie D's Jerky and sausage (with the red roof) for some more delicious samples- we bought some meat here to go with our cheese and it was SO good! I have heard criticism from other travelers that Tillamook Cheese Factory is no big deal, the tour is not worthwhile, the food is limited etc. There is a self guided tour which provides a second story overlook to watch the cheese packing process. Everything else is icing on the cake. This is the first time we have had ice cream here and it is really mediocre given the amount of space and effort they obviously put into their ice cream sales.
