Once you get to the beach, kids can spend hours flying kites, playing in the sand, collecting shells, etc. The biggest summer draw is the epic downhill mountain biking. So, to narrow it down, I asked my blogger friends for their top Pacific Northwest family vacations in Oregon and Washington. There are lots of fun shops close to the beach it seems like every town has a saltwater taffy shop across from the sand. We have three little boys so we like to rent a cottage via VRBO.com close to the beach with separate bedrooms, full kitchens & laundry facilities for those sandy towels. There are onsite restaurants or you can bring your own food into the resort. We often leave Suncadia with our hearts full, memories created and happy faces eager to do it all over again! Plus, its right near Roche Harbor Resort, which has cute little shops and restaurants. While in Victoria, be sure to check out the famous Butchart Gardens, and we also love the Butterfly Museum. Then continue down to the gum wall, and the Seattle Aquarium, and the Seattle Waterfront Park. Its made up of adorable rental cottages with even more adorable names. And at high tide, kids can paddleboard in knee or waist-deep water. Portland is full of green spaces, and extremely walkable (but may be not AS much with little kids) so pick a place near one of the many walking trails. Or, rent one of the MANY great vacation rentals in the area, and look for one that comes with a kayak or paddleboard so you can get out and explore! As winter approaches in Suncadia, it transforms into a winter wonderland with an abundance of snow, twinkling white lights, ice skating, nearby sleigh rides, and snow tubing down their own operated hill. Note: The holiday lights stay up through Valentines Day! The scenery is gorgeous and the various bridges that frequent the path are neat to look at, as well. Families can take a seaplane from Seattle or drive and take the ferry from Anacortes. If you choose to stop, which our family often has done over the years, there are multiple hikes and waterfalls to visit along the way. 
Check out Pelican Brewerys beachfront location in Pacific City, which is super kid-friendly and fun, tour the Tillamook cheese factory, drive down to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, or just head up the coast towards Astoria, checking out every beach on the way dont forget the famously beautiful Cannon Beach (where parts of the Goonies was filmed!). 
The Capilano Suspension bridge is SO amazing (especially for Christmas), and the kids will LOVE Science World. I mean, this is the PNW at its finest! 
It is so much more than just a water park. Beginning June 1st the single vehicle fee to enter the park is 30.00. On San Juan Island, youll find a fantastic whale museum, epic tide pools, aromatic lavender farms, and even an alpaca farm, plus tons more. We love maximizing our vacation time, which means squeezing in as MANY road trips and weekend trips as we can. While there, stay at the Fairmont Empress you wont regret it. It has the most amazing riverfront view from the balcony! Others will enjoy paddling out to explore, fishing, or just relaxing with their toes in the water. Then take the monorail downtown you gotta check out the Pike Place Market. Other favorites are the Ballard Locks, the Museum of Flight (read why we love it), and the Woodland Park Zoo. It has both indoor AND outdoor spaces with construction, clay, waterplay, and veterinarian exhibits (plus many many more).

With all the amenities, its definitely one of the coolest resorts in Washington state for families. The San Juan Islands Sculpture Park is fun for kids to run around. If you havent seen Chihuly glass in person, you need to! The area around Spokane and Coeur dAlene is rich with lakes, rivers, and all kinds of water fun. Its right on the beach, which is pretty incredible. In the summer, youll be able to pick fresh berries, or check out one of Anacortess many festivals. Leavenworth is a very easy drive, even for kids as it is only a little over 2 hours from Seattle. The city has several kid-friendly museums to visit, such as the Mobius Science Center and its affiliate, the Mobius Childrens Museum. Perhaps the most well-known attraction in Tacoma is the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium and it DOES NOT disappoint. Its about a 3 hour drive south of Seattle (when traffic is normal) and its one of the best kid friendly vacations in Oregon. My family LOVES visiting downtown Poulsbo; the Scandinavian theme, the simplicity of the town. Dont miss the famous tide pools at Cannon Beach (make sure to check the tide schedules first) or scenic Tillamook to tour the Tillamook Cheese Factory theyre building a brand new visitors center that opens this summer, where you can get all the cheese & ice cream samples you want! Weve been back several times and its definitely one of the best family friendly hotels in Washington! We enjoy visiting Spokane every year because theres always something new to discover each time we come, whether its a new restaurant, a new store, or a new kid-friendly activity. We will often bring our bikes and will ride for hours around their massive 6,000 acre community. Always check road conditions (and closures/openings) before you head up. The town has several great shops fit for anyone interested in exploring them, and several beautiful places to walk through on on both a snowy or sunny day. While there are lots of family friendly resorts in Seattle, sometimes its fun to get out of the city and explore somewhere new. So many great ideas!
Chelan is located basically smack dab in the middle of Washington, on the east side of the Cascades. No matter which route you take youll likely leave planning your next adventure at this special spot. Older kids can ride horses down to camp. Youll also find opportunities for ziplining, playing miniature golf with goats, and just exploring the beautiful Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth, plus much much more! Suncadia recently added a new addition to the property called Nelsons Farm, which includes a pool with a lazy river. Lodging options include camping at NPS campground, or staying at Kalaloch Lodge or Lake Quinault Lodge. You can get there by taking the (American) Anacortes to Sidney Ferry, or the (Canadian) Tsawwassen to Schwarz Bay Ferry, though youll need a car or transport to get to Victoria. While there, we recommend staying at the Westin Bayshore for the great location close to restaurants, and Stanley Park, and the fantastic pool.
