I have Pella in my Northern NJ home and they are awful- arrived with chips and rub marks; Pella's solution to that was to send me a box of about 20 little bottles that looked like black nail polish bottles to do the "touch up" myself (black clad exterior), which I didn't do because I thought it would look worse to dab that on all over a house full of brand new windows. No instructions. Andersen Doors are junk! You can tell they have had problems with these doors blowing open.

We have the very same door with the very same problem. The door has a rollup screen which retracts into the door when the window is closed, much like a window shade would.
The screen slid down inside the door and I can't figure out how to get it outhelp! They need to be set with minimal clearance between the strike and catch. I'm about to buy a series 100+. As for a chain, no good, it will interfere with the screen that rolls up when not in use. The windows are fine, but I am not crazy about the sliding doors. I purchased an Emco door several years ago. first time i saw this i was baffled and called the company they actually had an option "if you are calling about a wind chain on your door, press 3" which led to all sorts of explaining by the automated robot person how "their research has shown that if a gust of wind will engage a wind chain, it will do more damage anyway, blah blah blah baloney" i was to say the least, very impressed! Very disappointed. The most popular of the ventilation options has become the Interchangeable Full View Storm Door. I think your having such a hard time with the doors because the trim is too dark. I said that that was indication of inferior parts, which they should cover; basically they're trying to charge me $22 for replacement parts that are only going to bend again. I also had a problem with one of these 3000 series andersen storm doors. I went on the Andersen Website and see that they sell "universal closers" with the push button. With the Interchangeable Storm Door, you have the option to swap out the insert whenever youd like between the provided full view glass insert or the insect screen insert. It was amazing and challenging growing up in two different worlds and learning to navigate and merging two different cultures into my life, but I must say the world is my playground and I have fun on Mother Earth. I can't believe that they would sell a $250 door that doesn't have a handle that goes back to its original position. It is the worst door I have ever seen. with pets I never put the screen in. They are hard to find but they are around. I had an estimate for a rustic paver patio with space in between the pavers for creeping Thyme, around $6K, and I would have to buy the pergola myself so depending on the size and material that could be up to another $4K. i spend my days repairing things that have been "fixed" five times before, and this sort of thing is just exhausting. Top, bottom and sides to help reduce drafts. They've used aluminum where they should have used steel, and there's no component that catches the door before it swings beyond the extension of the closer. There's a 1/4" gap. I'm an engineer, and I should have checked it out more that I did. Honestly you would be hard pressed to find anyone that would warranty wind damage. It was $8,200; $2.2K to cut into the wall and install a single window and $6K to install a french door with steps down to grade in the living room. Id really like to keep this door because its in good shape otherwise and I dont want three different door styles. It's not attached securely to its frame. Not sure why but the door latches sometimes, but not all the time. Was told by the installer that he doesn't cover wind damage. Still want to contact Andersen about getting the push button closer. Use the button on the handle set to release the lever from its locked position, then flip the handle in the upward position. Then I put a super heavy-duty closer spring to pull the door shut, and several small magnets on the door frame to hold the door closed.
