The story ends with the fates of several characters left very much up in the air.
I don't think so but that would be hella cool, When I tell you my jaw dislocated when I found out agent Day bright was the HIND. Spoilers: I know!!! Lastly, it would explain why the only Asteri we ever see speak on their own is Rigelus. Even the archangels. A baby that Sirius gave to a low level angel to take care of. Except she wants us to think that and they stay together. I would want, and I would burn with it. Empire of Storms Exclusive (Barnes & Noble). Maybe but odds are she has the same secretive powers as that of Fury. Guess it is time to reread all of SJMs books because it looks like they are definitely crossing over!!! ", "Even five centuries of training couldn't stop the chill that skittered down his spine as Cassian surveyed the empty, quiet mountains below and wondered what slept beneath the snow", Cassian wondered what slept beneath the snow , This was so much fun to make, it'll make everyone's lives easier including myself haha so happy reading everyone! I don't believe SJM established this connection between Elain and Vassa for it to be for nothing or merely a plot-device. This excerpt would have us believe that the beings who created the book at some point existed in Prythian before they vanished, although Amren is supposedly stuck in Prythian. Would explain the similarities between Rhys and Ruhn.
She's like shocked when Bryce mentions it in the Old Language, and stuff. This thread also referenced perfect world that Aelin release hell onto- I am yet to read Kingdom of Ash which is why all these theories are half-baked, please dont come for me I will add once I have actually read it-: could this possible be Hel, the hel from which Aidas spawns? The black stone could be the key to something, otherwise the Daglan wouldn't have been desperate to reach to it (my other theory is there is an access point under Ramiel but this theory is different). Sign UpYes, I would like to receive Paste's newsletter, 2022 Paste Media Group. Originally posted by manevibilgihazinedir, Okay I know at first it won't make much sense and the theory is still forming in my head but what IF something or SOMEONE is sleeping under Ramiel. I was so shocked to find out it was The Hind. So many Easter eggs! Hunt, for his part, has plenty of self-discovery of his own to do in this story, as he must finally decide who he is-and what hes willing to fight fornow that hes a free man once more.
And, as a result, we learn more about the history of Midgard and what it might have been like before these powerful creatures arrived. And regret. Also my dumbass tried to see how many pages were in the book when I first started it and I accidentally saw the last line, so I was curious how Bryce ended up in their world. The Knife that has been lost since the First Wars and (along with the Starsword) will reunite the Fae?? Boom. I think Sarah did a really good job of explaining what the Asteri were and how they could travel through worlds. haha! (LogOut/ NO. Elain was again at my side.
The meaning of the eight-pointed star will be explained in CC3 and how it connects with Bryce and Nesta who had this mark on their body. Reader, I am firmly in the former category-my mouth not only hit the floor for the duration of the final fifteen or so pages, but I also cannot imagine the way this will all play out in Maas subsequent books to come. CC3 will be probably released within 18 or 20 months after HOSAB, so it would be August or October of 2023. Or maybe theyre related somehow? Id seen what happened to those of my kind who strayed, who learned to place their needs first. The Holy Tongue., Rhysand said, I heard a legend that it was written in a tongue of mighty beings who feared the Cauldrons power and made the Book to combat it. I wont be able to sleep tonight! It makes you wonder which worlds Bryce saw on the map are connected to what Aelin saw when she was falling through worlds and which ones Amren, weaver, and the bone carver all came from! This means that there is not one specific character who would have more right or heritage to rule it, in addition to other political problems that would create. But the winners write history, so the Asteri (read: fake Rigelus who is really Star Eater) spun the story that Star Eater killed Sirius. When written all together like it brings to mind owl like behaviors. Feel free to submit Posts and ask questions, discussion is encouraged. I hadnt heard her steps. I find interesting to mention that when Nesta found the harp she describes hundreds of marks that resemble to "constellations" this could be from the "Starborn" or the Asteri, as they lured to Midgard hundreds of people from different worlds, and by Nesta's vision the Fae were taken against their will and the harp was left as a form of "sealing" to not let them return. I can't wait for the 3rd book really. And the money that Hunts mom got from Hunts dad was really from Sirius. Could be a reference to Sirius, the Wolf Star. Spicy shenanigans happened. Or what if the new archangel is a child Hunt had with Shahar that he didn't know about? I thought Id outline some of the information that we know for sure about different characters powers, the history of the fae, and then potentially clarify the connections between Rhys, Az, Ruhn, and Cormac. I think they might just be the Valg. Mix that with an archangel? Admittedly, however, House of Sky and Breath does feel very much like a novel thats in the middle of things. Agree about the Amren Hel theory, also possibly related to fury/parallel identity? I yielded my gracemy perfect immortality. Its maddening and exhilarating and nothing that I expected. ), The story also lacks a bit of the emotional center that Bryce and Danikas friendship provided in the first novel. I have no clue, however it does mean that she can read it and so is at least old enough to have been around, vaguely the time, of the creation of the book. And, somehow, against all odds, Sirius managed to escape. Silent flight is clearly crucial for many owls' survival, all the hints towards it are subtle enough that you might not see it, I wonder if this has something to do with elain being missing at certain times, like in acosf she just was busy or somewhere else - what if there was a reason for that, I have been told to read as quickly as I can so someone can scream something at me ahahahahhaa thats all I know and Im keeping it that way, remember to mark spoilers as a tag if you dont want to see them, I tag spoiler for any new book coming out or if the series is pretty new, it doesnt always happen because I forget but I try, and since a lot of people are doing rereads, the first part of this Koschei series (the Koschei = Fionn theory). I can see you all liking and commenting on things but Im having restraint and not clicking my tumblr notifications - so hopefully they will be there when I finish reading. Lacy Baugher Milas is the Books Editor at Paste Magazine, but loves nerding out about all sorts of pop culture. The same book that was meant to nullify the power of the Cauldron. With the release of the HOSAB cover, and my subsequent deep dive into the CC universe, I think Ive connected some dots. ", "if his brother had ever told her what dwelled in these mountains. Who developed feeling. I have read some pretty convincing theories regarding what Amren could be ranging from Vlag to Angel to even Manon. Thanks for being here. Rather than the line meaning Elain is connected to Koschei the way Vassa is, I wonder if she meant it more literally in the way that they can both change into birds. (For all the mystery surrounding women like Jesiba Roga or Fury Axatar in the first novel, neither gets much to do here. Flying towards Hybern, right before a disastrous mission - in which I think Koschei could have been significantly more involved than we assumed at the time - SJM had Feyre describe Azriel as "a swift shadow over the black water. The next ACOTAR book is Az's right? Now please re-read it. On the Divine Number; The Walking Dead; The Book of Breathings; The Queen with Many Faces . Danika is coming back or will make another appearance like she did before- or at least, it was set up that way. In the House of Sky and Breath, it mostly focuses on Malakim (angels), Fae, elementals, sprites, and those who are blessed by Solas, along with some favored by Luna so like Ali said, we might find out who Hunt's dad is. The book is massive, but you wont feel most of its pages, and by the time you reach its end, youll be positively desperate for more. Legend said it had existed before the Night Court formed, before the Illyrians migrated from the Myrmidons, before humans had even walked the earth. The pair to the Starsword???? What if she gets appointed as the new archangel? I find the second to be the more convincing theory, considering the fact we know supposedly have two methods of inter-world travel: wyrdgates- as seen in ToG- and rifts- as seen in CC- in the fabric of the world and perhaps another if Amren found her way in differently, although they may be one and the same. A powerful archangel. Press J to jump to the feed. I have been re-reading the ACOTAR books and my brain is still reeling with the question of, what on earth is Amren?
So she plotted, figured it out, and planned a rebellion with Aidas and some Malakim who didnt agree with enslaving the human race. Who we also know are called the seven holy stars?
In the end of HOSAB Bryce fell at the River House, not at the Town House. And why this was the symbol found in the Prison under the harp. Mighty beings who were here and then vanished. She passed through a world where a great city had been built along the curve of a river, the buildings impossibly tall and glimmering with lights.. Were also more fully introduced to many of the characters who only briefly appeared in House of Earth and Blood, and familiar faces like Ruhn Danaan, Ithan Holstrom, and Tharion Ketos are given arcs of their own that have nothing (or at least very little) to do with Bryce and their relationships between and among one another are given the chance to deepen and flourish. The most convincing however is that she could be the lost, 7th Asteri. Share some theories about this book and what you think'll happen in Crescent City Book 3. That would somewhat tie into the Crescent city plot line. Okay. New interview from Sarah!!! The way I see it, I dont think the Asteri originally wanted to enslave the humans when they came over. The Prince of The Pit (hereafter referred to as Star Eater, or SE) isnt actually Star Eater. PS: HOW COULD U, SARAH J MAAS. That said, every flaw in House of Sky and Breath will likely be erased by the books ending, the sort of gutsy, inevitably controversial storytelling twist that is either going to make fans utterly ecstatic or mildly furious. (Something which occasionally feels a bit silly given the events at the end of the last book.). Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. This entire time, I was right! -Extract from Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas. Including the full scene when Rhys saw Aelin passing through Velaris. (LogOut/ This is based on mounds of evidence, and not just one-off descriptions. I dont know if this has already been discussed, but did anyone note in the beginning of Chapter 78 of House of Earth and Blood that Bryce describes seeing the Book of Breathings on the floor. I totally love Hunt and Bryce. Thank you!! This may however change, and if the Starborn Fae originate from Prythian is that something we will see in the future books, maybe with the rebirth of this Holy Tongue, courtesy of Amrens knowledge of it? And, to be clear, it often feels as though this is the space Maas was born to write in, one thats full of the same intricate world-building and feisty heroines that were the hallmark of her young adult novels, but mixed with darker themes, more explicit violence, and plenty of morally gray characters whose motivations cant always be trusted. But the Asteri are stronger than the angels. Once again, it's a crack theory; I'm well aware that it sounds crazy. And I don't think them having R names is by coincidence, I think SJM laid all these tiny little clues, No nobecause then SJM would have definitely added a scene with Ruhn's mother in the main book..She would've definitely shown her as a strong female not to be discarded by the Autumn King, omg.. the plot twists. That's already been confirmed. I'm so excited to see if they'll also appear in the next book!! And it spells out a direct command to activate the Horn through a blast of raw power upon the tattoo itself. Elain is the one visiting his grave more than her sisters. But House of Sky and Breath also begins to unspool a much larger and more intricate tale that is something much bigger than the adventures of a college grad and her friends. Tl;dr - nearly every character in acotar (and many in CC) is connected to the island of near-perpetual twilight in Prythian, meaning connections to Theia, Fionn, Helena (and potentially her sister), or Pelias. But, they werent fully successful in beating back the demons. There is a common ground here between them. This got super long, so it's under the cut. I would like to offer the following theory, which I quickly sketched out in this reblog of @manon-and-the-thirteens post. And yet yet I wound up here, because I was not quite like the others. So we can get an alternate scene in the next book. Add in this all the kings of hell from TOG and Maeve. The issue of the Holy language also draws me in the direction of Bryces tattoo. The guy obviously has some major connection to Bryce and Hunt, in context of the convo he had w Jesiba on that park bench. But where the series first installment, Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood, spent a lot of time introducing us to this sprawling new world of Midgard and the variety of beingsfrom humans and shapeshifters to mer folk, angels, and witches-that inhabit it, it was still primarily concerned with the story of Bryce Quinlan, a half-human, half-Fae young woman whose determination to solve the brutal murder of her best friend drove much of the story. So what if that new archangel was somehow connected to Hunt's former lover Shahar? This hints at the language co-existing with the horn, something that doesnt exist in the ACOTAR universe. Also going on a hunch by Stars sound suspiciously like a connection to the Night Court. SPOILER for TOG Kind of like how Aelin knew she was Rowans mate but didnt want to drop that bomb on him.end spoiler for TOG. Its a lot of information and there are connections between characters that are clear as mud because the details are buried in any one of about 14 books. Ill be back to discuss theories and fun as soon as I can. They were Fae, but this was not her world. Could the bloodshed and the deaths of the Illyrians benefit and feed some sort of power or creature? Where does the magic they Illyrians possess on one night (which is the day before the Blood Rite) comes from? But could you share where you saw/how you know that the next ACOTAR book will be Azriels? If the argument is she's connected to Koschei because of her visions, she's also connected to Vassa because of them too. There was enough references to the lost Asteri for me to believe that this is going to be important or at some point was, maybe in ACOTAR. On the HOSAB cover, we see several wolf details. How did Danika know this language, where did it come from? Hunts always saying she must be from flame and shadow. Thats not how I pictured Ruhn at all!!! Too questioning. Given all these factors it is the timeline which makes me question it all, the timeline itself is only hinted at through the existence and creation of the cauldron and the Book as well as the ancient language. One of those Malakim being the man she was in love with. She flung out a hand, as if she might signal them, as if they might somehow help her when she was nothing but an invisible speck of power-. Sirius is Hunts mother. So, much like (MAJOR TOG SPOILER) Maeve took a new body, I think that SE (who is similar to a Valg prince or king) took over the body of Rigelus and is mind controlling the other Asteri. How did Danika know the lost language and is it the same as that Holy Tongue from the book of Breathings? I knew that once I did I would feel pain. The Asteri. Behind him, the five other Asteri sat enthroned in their crystal chamber, cold-faced and radiating wealth and power. Idk what exactly youd expect to get, but it would be powerful. I wanted. Because if the cauldron did create the world the Asteri might have wanted to get their hand on it; if they couldnt be alternative may have been to create something to neutralise its power. Shit gets weird. A place for the fans of Crescent City by Sarah J Maas. Most had been slain by the Illyrians, or sent fleeing to those Steppes. Even large species like the Barn Owl or Great Horned Owl can fly virtually silently. It was mentioned in HOSAB that Bryce is the heiress of Theia's powers, and that Ruhn looks like Pelias, so I believe the High General was Rhys's ancestor and likely the predecessor of the High Lords of the Night Court. What is the possibility that SJM is also going to make Az and Bryce mates? She couldnt take anyone with her, but she could visit. And you gave all that up to get out of the Prison? Mor asked softly. Amren does seem powerful enough to be one of the Asteri, the creatures who created the fallen although the angel theory has some serious merits where information provided by Amren herself is concerned, there are some strong biblical and angelic connotations, unfortunately I could not find the exact thread I found this theory on but here is the passage from ACOWAR; I was perfect, according to some. The books size means it can feel as though it drags in places (Im not sure any of us are as invested in the world of the River Queen and the politics of the Blue Court as Maas seems to think we are) and with so many more characters to service it can feel as though we dont get enough time with our favorites as we might like. As always, the seventh throne sat empty in honor of their long-dead sister.. We know all three series; ToG, ACOTAR and CC are set in the same multiverse. Im not sure I ship Az and Bryce.. For me this boils down to the question of what is Amren and the timeline. The crossover scene in the HOSAB takes place 6 months after the end of ACOSF. Not sure if someones already picked up on this but. NOOOOO WAAAAAAAAAAY. (And trust me, when Maas said this sequel is steamier than its predecessor she was very much not kidding. Since HOSAB was released, a lot of the connections between Midgard and Prythian (and Erilea) have been confusing. So since ACOSF ends in early spring "March", we can say that Bryce comes do Velaris on "September" in early autumn. Hunts father was trapped in Hel by Star Eater (maybe a lot of the rebels were?). this extract leads us to the fact that this would have occurred at the time of the Crossing, from one world to the next. It also involves a lot of unanswered questions, because we don't yet have a lot of concrete knowledge about Koschei, or even Azriel himself! And they created the Malakim as both soldiers to fight the demons, and as go betweens between the Asteri and the humans. But how did Hunt happen 233 years ago then, I hear you asking. And, yet, its an exhilarating, propulsive read, full of all the action-packed adventure and steamy romance weve come to expect from Maas work, just with everything somehow turned up a notch. Ok, well since Micah is dead, Crescent City needs a new archangel, doesn't it? Baby born. I cant wait to see where we go from here. But I wanted to look. What I am leaning towards more is that the future Crescent City books will give us more insight, and this is why; -Her tingling fingers brushed over the titles. This installment delves a bit further into Bryces Starborn heritage, exploring the specifics of her growing powers and why various factions throughout Valbara (and beyond) are so interested in what she can do, and how they might harness those abilities for their own ends. You know, I was literally thinking Daybright is either Hypaxia or Celestina. CC3 will be split between Bryce's pov in Prythian and the pov of the characters in Midgard. And the next ACOTAR book is his perspective as he learns more about Bryce and decides not to say anything bc he knows shes mates with Hunt and doesnt wish to hurt his mate by putting her in that position? I would fall.. And here I am.. Given that we are getting another three books in the series, following Cassian and Nesta, the question could be answered then but Im not convinced it will be. So, we go back in time a few months before Bryce shows up and we have a Gwenriel book. So. But I went through the tear in the sky. So curious where this will end up. Also, sorry to bother u with this but please mark spoilers in the title cuz we have a lot of users here who haven't read CC and Micah's death is a pretty big spoiler so yuh. A blog to collect and store various fan theories from the fandom of Sarah J. Maas.
My brothers and sisters fled. This then leads me to the conclusion that either; Jesiba can move through worlds which is how she accumulates the things she does, once again I wouldnt be shocked based on how cagey we have been about her powers; Or, the book was transported there at some earlier point/ originated from there and much like Amren found its way to Prythian. I was thinking about Aidas too.
See Jesibas dark side and what happened to the library, And its gonna make me cry no matter what so, Maybe Hunt turns out to be the villain. My biggest expectation would be for a Nessian Novella, but unfortunately this was not asked or mentioned by Sarah. So I truly believe that Queen Theia was the High Queen who ruled an independent territory, as mentioned in ACOSF and in HOSAB that the "Starborn Fae", came from an island that remains almost completely in Dusk. However within the script there is a 6 month gap where this could happen, so hope lives on . Including the A Court of Thorns and Roses series and the Throne of Glass series. Maas said that she left clues in HoBaR, I think I caught up in a lot of those clues. I was super excited to see that in your comment. And Rigelus isnt really Rigelus. She scanned Elain from head to toe, wondering if shed been taking lessons in stealth, Typically the larger and faster a bird is, the noisier it's flight. I had to re-read all Ruhn and The Hind's conversation! They might go by the names: Carynth, Oristes, and Arktos "the three holy stars". In House of Sky and Breath,, Bryce finds herself plunged deeper into the history and politics of Midgard and the series world expands by an order of magnitude as a result. The Fae forged it in their home world, named it for the goddess in their new one, and used it to battle the demon hordes once they made the Crossing.. There is also a convincing theory for Amren actually being Manon, although it assumes the timelines dont coincide. I tried my best to include accurate info. ", "Ramiel had always felt alive, somehow. Well it looks like we have some confirmations and theories: I believe this was the most important informations I could interpret from this interview. Anyone got any of those Crescent City theories they want to share before release of House of sky and breath releases? So Star Eater was able to sneak in and take over Rigelus body. It may or may not be a coincidence, but ACOSF also started in the fall, marking exactly 1 year since the events ACOSF.
